Ah, Richmond. Where Geek Meets Redneck-tech

Shamelessly stolen from the Richmond Craigslist ads for motorcycles and scooters: someone’s trying to buy a working motorcycle engine for use in a custom-built Return of the Jedi speeder bike. The only thing that worries me more than this ad is that they might be our neighbors :\.

I’m looking for a running or close to running 300cc to 700cc range standard motorcycle or dirt bike. The bike doesn’t have to be pretty. The engine has to be running though. A few friends and I are trying to build a working speeder bike from the Star Wars Return of the Jedi movie. We have the designs and some parts available but the battalion of bikes we have don’t run or are to expensive to repair. We would like to skip all the engine repairs and jump right to the fabrication with a working bike. I’m in the process of acquiring the Biker Scout suit and fabricating a blaster rifle. The bike and costume is to be used for charity and fund raising events around town. We’re also looking for any help and input for design ideas. Do a google search for speeder bike (images) and closely look at movie design of bike. The design can fit (though not perfectly) around a motorcycle of some kind. Not looking to spend alot, nothing over 600 dollars. If anybody has a eye sore to get rid of, let us know.

You should be able to contact them if you go to the original ad (sorry, should have linked it in the OP) and email them through the craigslist proxy.
