Google Local for Mobile

Ars Technica reports today that Google Maps is now available on select mobile phone carriers. In another blow to my mobile phone pensu size, Verizon is not supported. I swear, Verizon has the best reception but the worst phones and features. What a bummer.

Google Local for Mobile would be a killer app for me, given my propensity to get lost. As indicated in the Ars write-up, GLM could allow me to look up all of the motorcycle gear shops in Richmond and then provide me with directions to each shop, all over my mobile phone.

My phone and carrier are supposedly covered, but the application still fails to install for me. Times like these I wish phones had an error log 🙂
