Donut, Bond and I went shooting Wednesday. It was slightly above freezing all day, and I’d like to blame my poor pistoleering on numb hands and iffy fine motor control.
On the upside, I was able to sight in my M44 at fifty yards so that I didn’t have to extend the bayonet to fire accurately. I also did some fine tuning on my SAR-1 (AK-47 variant). I was able to put a fair number of shots exactly where I wanted them at twenty-five yards from a standing position. My grouping was pretty damn good. I wish I would have saved the target, it would be a nice ego boost after my awful attempt at the metal targets we shot at later.
Donut got some nice pictures of the fireball-launcher (I mean, M44) in action. They are from the camcorder functionality on his point and shoot digicam, but you get the idea.
I’m in the top pic, Bond is in the one below.
I don’t know if it was the recoil pad, the several layers of clothing, the proper shooting position, or all three, but the M44 was much more comfortable to shoot this time around. I am already cringing at the idea of going back to the other outdoor range to sight in my two SKS rifles later this month. Sheesh.
