When I saw mention of a handmade Nintendo controller-ish coin purse at DS Fanboy, I knew I had to have one. I went to Lindsey Porter’s storefront on Etsy. Etsy specializes in handmade stuffs, so if you’re looking for something unique or small-run, check them out.

Anyway, the coin purse is a little bit smaller than the original controller — or at least I think it is, it’s been nineteen years since I’ve last held an NES controller. It is very well made, and pretty damn cute. The outside is felt, and the controller “buttons” seem well secured to the purse. The inside is a red-and-white pattern. I think it was well worth the $14.00 + $2.25 shipping. Lindsey shipped my purchase out to me quickly, and I’d definitely recommend her … which I guess I am right now. ;)
The biggest problem is that I don’t carry cash, and definitely not coins … so I have no idea what I’m going to keep in the coin purse. I wonder if my Kel-Tec PF-9 spare magazine will fit inside?

It’s very cute and a clever! The cassette tape purses are very realistic too. It looks like she does a great job. Hey thanks for the reference to the site…it’s pretty cool. Yet another site that has “hand made beads”!
Just a thought with regards to use, do you have any small things in your emergency kit that you’d like to keep together and easy to find? Of course (hopefully) you wouldn’t see cute little purse very often. Or what about a small sewing kit (a small set of scissors like the Leatherman Micra, a few needles, a few safety pins and some thread (variety of colors)? Do you take vitamins at specific times of the day? It could be a cute carry case for your baggie of vits. Sorry that’s all I can come up with since it’s unlikely you carry makeup of any sorts. Maybe it’ll spark some ideas for you. Cheers.
Configuratrix, it’s a little big for business cards, but that’s a damn fine idea.
Stomper, I had the same thought — and it’s a good one. It would make a great first-aid/emergency kit. The only problem is if I had to use it I am sure I would get it bloody, wet, dirty, or some combination thereof, which would make me sad.
You are so right. I didn’t think of that. I guess that leaves you with sewing/mending kit….of course that could be a bloody mess too, depending on how handy you are with a needle!! :-)
