Happy Adopt-a-versary, Porter! 2012 Edition

Big hugs to my oldest dog Porter, whom I adopted eight years ago today. He’s traveled from Maryland to Virginia to Minnesota. He had a several year streak of being a little, uh, plump, but now he’s in fantastic trim.

Sedagive? has had him and our other two dogs on a raw diet and boy has it turned his body and energy levels around.

You can totally tell, check out this picture:

Well, maybe not the epitome of action and adventure, but one thing Porter’s always been good at is snuggling. It makes me super happy that he’s gone from state to state, and lap to lap, but has always fulfilled his mission: Chief Snuggler.

If you’re thinking about adding a dog to your family, please consider adopting. Porter didn’t come with fancy papers, isn’t a fashionable breed (or made up Hollywood combination), and was due for the puppy pen in the sky when I adopted him. But every day I’m thankful to have him as my buddy, and I’d like to think he’s thankful to.

Happy adopt-a-versary, my son.
