Happy Birthday, Rosie!

Happy birthday to my middle dog Rosie, who turns six years old today.

This year has been a huge change for Rosie, and out of all of my dogs she’s had the most trouble adjusting. She was “paralyzed” for about a week after we moved here and had problems moving around and adjusting. She put on even more weight — she’s up to 54 pounds!! The medication she’s on for her epilepsy doesn’t help, but staying inside during the longer winter months didn’t help, either.
She’s on a new diet and I try to keep her outside as much as possible. I hope that by this time next year she’s down ten pounds of fat and up five pounds of muscle.

In the meantime, Rosie has continued to be a snuggler — even if that means booty-bumping her brother and sister out of the way to get some attention.

Aside from the weight gain, her health has been very good. She’s yet to have another seizure, and the vet thinks that she could even reduce her dosage. I’m hesitant to do so, but it would be nice to reduce the strain the meds have on her system.

Happy birthday, little Rosie — here’s to another, even better year.
