I follow Deal.woot.com on a daily basis. Sometimes they have decent deals, and sometimes there are crazy deals. And then, every once in a while, there are mistakes. It’s hard to know what will go through and wind up on your doorstep, and what gets canceled a few days later.
Someone posted a crazy deal from Office Depot on February 5th: 50 plastic male urinals for $0.79 before shipping.
What the hell is a male urinal, and why would I need 50 of them? Who cares? I figured it would make an amusing Gibberish entry.
Unfortunately, this was one of those times that a Web site was in error.
Okay, here’s the Web page from Home Depot. Notice that it says case of 50 in the title. If you click on the “learn more” link and then the Product Details tab it also says quantity: 50.
Here’s what I got in the mail today:
Not … really 50. More like one. For $0.79 plus $10.72 shipping.
Was it plausible that I’d get a case of 50 plastic urinals for $11.51? Not really, but I’ve gotten a lot of really inexpensive stuff on sale via deals.woot.
I wrote to Office Depot this morning, and got this reply:
