Office Depot Responds: Portable Urinal Pricing Mistake

Last Thursday I wrote about a pricing mistake on OfficeDepot.com. I thought I was purchasing a case of 50 plastic urinals, I wound up getting one.

It took Office Depot a bit to respond, but here’s what they had to say:

Hi DrFaulken,

The email is regarding the order# XXXXXXXX.

The item description has been wrongly advertised in our website.

So, we have escalated this issue to have this error rectified.

We have issued credit and the credit amount is $11.51, it will take 7-10 business days to reflect in your account.

Please keep the item.

The item description will be corrected by next week.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Please let us know if you have any more questions.

The product page on the Web site has been removed.

A very good outcome, all things considered. I was afraid they’d ask me to return the item, wiping out about half of the refund due to shipping. Kudos to Office Depot for eating a $0.79 item in order to preserve some goodwill.

True… but what a shame that you didn’t get 50 of them.
