Social Attitude Quiz

One of my friends from Ars Technica linked to an online quiz that helps to determine where your beliefs put you on a political spectrum.

The Social Attitude Test is just under 50 questions. Responses are based on a five point scale, ranging from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree.

I found some of the questions to be too complex for such a basic continuum. I found myself agreeing with part of the statement but not all of it.

Here were my results:

Radicalism : 72
Socialism : 25
Tenderness : 21.875

The quiz identified me as a libertarian, which is very true.

Take the quiz, I am curious where most of my readers line up.

I’d have to say that my numbers don’t look right at all. Also, I’m not a fan of many of the questions or much of the wording. Also, WTF is tenderness, is radical left or right?

    Radicalism 44.5
    Socialism 37.5
    Tenderness 59.375

This part, on the other hand, makes more sense:
“These scores indicate that you are a moderate; this is the political profile one might associate with a protective parent. It appears that you are moderate towards religion, and have a balanced attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear capitalist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a political centrist.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, an egalitarian with many strong opinions.”

  2. Brian C. says:

    Radicalism 69.25
    Socialism 50
    Tenderness 34.375
These scores indicate that you are a tough-minded moderate progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a liberated atheist. It appears that you are cynical towards religion, and have a suspicious and unsympathetic attitude towards humanity in general.

Your attitudes towards economics appear neither committedly capitalist nor socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a political centrist.

To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a centrist with few strong opinions.

That about sums it up. Though concerning Egalitarianism I’d say more John Locke than Karl Marx and as far as being a progressive goes, I’m not too much of a left leaner…

BTW, I love your blog! You’re actually the one who turned me on to wet shaving, though I admittedly use a straight razor over a double edge. Still, props where they’re due!

Yes, I have no strong opinions…. Political Centrist? Does that mean I am smart enough to take a step back and see all sides of an argument/discussion and not stick to a party line?
